Worship at the Races Still an Integral Part of Lanco's Labor Day Shootout

For the past few years, Bruce Ginther Jr. and his Jesus Race Team.com have presented a well received, outdoor Worship Service on the Sunday morning of Labor Day weekend. The informal spiritual gatherings have taken place in the bleachers of Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway during the track's annual Labor Day Shootout, and the worship service is on the weekend's agenda once again this year.

Ginther has always provided a guest speaker for Worship at the Races, and there's been a common thread among all of those who have shared their faith at the service...every speaker had an extensive background in motorsports. And that theme will continue in 2011...

On Sunday, September 4, when Worship at the Races begins at 11 a.m. in the Clyde's spectator seating area, the speaker will be someone who not only spends a lot of time at local speedways, but he literally lives at a race track.

Instead of a steering wheel, though, he holds a microphone in his hands when he's having fun at the track. He and his family own and operate the Linda's Speedway in Jonestown, Pa, which is why Mike Batz has been involved with, and announcing races, since he was six-years-old!

Batz is a member of Jonestown Bible Church, and he's anxious to share his experiences and expressions of faith with Labor Day Shootout attendees.

Deborah Martin will provide spiritual music for Worship at the Races, and the Jesus Race Team.com staff is inviting all of those attending the service to join them afterward at the Shred Racing trailer for "lounge n' lunch".

Worship at the Races will be held rain or shine on Sunday, September 4 - in case of inclement weather, the service will take place in the track's garage.

The Labor Day Shootout presented by Shred Racing features the five weekly classes of Micro-Sprints that compete at the Clyde, plus a very special wingless 600cc event on Sunday.

The winners of the 270cc and Winged 600cc A-Mains will receive $1,000, while the Wingless 600 victor will earn $800, courtesy of Hyper Racing and Mike Pjatikin. There will also be a Front Row Challenge for the Wingless event, with Pjatikin putting up an additional $500 if the polesitter decides to give up his/her starting spot and take the green from the back of the pack, then goes on to win the A-Main. If the polesitter declines the challenge, then the driver scheduled to start on the outside of the front row will have the option to take the challenge.

Racing begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 3rd and on Sunday, September 4th. Two Rounds of qualifying heats will be run for each class (Winged 600cc, 270cc, 125cc, Sportsman, and 270cc Four-Strokes) on Saturday, and the Winged 600's will also compete in a B-Main and 30-lap A-Main.

Sunday's card calls for B-Mains and A-Mains for the 270's, 125cc, Sportsman, and 270cc Four-Strokes along with a complete show of Wingless 600cc action.
