Newmanstown, Pa.- An early evening thunderstorm put an end to Micro-Sprint racing action before it even began on Saturday at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway.
Too much rain, combined with extremely high humidity, would not allow the track prep team to bring the high banked, eighth-mile oval back to proper racing condition, so the decision was made to cancel.
The time schedule had already been altered for Saturday's event; the starting time pushed back to 7:30 due to the high (and uncomfortable) temperature.
General admission ticket stubs as well as pit pass wristbands will be honored at one of the next two events on the Clyde Martin schedule - they made be used next Saturday, July 14, or on July 21st.
Next weekend, the cameras of Blue Ridge Cable 11 return to the Clyde to capture all of the fast paced action in the five main events. The features will be recorded by the Cable 11 crew, then broadcast on Sunday afternoon, July 15, at 3 p.m.
The July 14 menu includes qualifying heats, consolations, and 25-lap feature races for the 600cc, 270cc, 125cc, Sportsman, and 270cc Four-Stroke Micro-Sprints.
Gates open at 3:30 on Saturday, with warm-ups at 5:00 and the first heat race goes green at 6 p.m.
Coming up on July 28 is the Clyde Martin Memorial Race, a double-point extravaganza highlighted by 35-lap features for all five of the track's weekly classes.
Only those club members who have entered at least half of this season's point-paying events are eligible to compete in the Clyde Martin Memorial Race.
