$2,500 To Win 600cc Main; More Money Added To 270cc Purse
Newmanstown, PA - When the Seventh Annual Kioti Tractors PA 600 Speedweek kicks off this Satu...rday at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway, the drivers who race their way into the 40-lap A-Main will be vying for a winner's share of $2,500.
In addition to that hefty first-place payday, a solid purse will be paid to everyone making the starting field - the purse structure is posted at www.pa600speedweek.com - and the top three finishers in the Cash Dash will receive $300/ $200/ $100 respectively.
Joining the best 600cc throttle-mashers in the land will be a stellar field of 270cc wheel-twisters. The Third Annual Hyper Racing 270 Clash at the Clyde will also be contested on Saturday, and those drivers will enjoy an even higher purse than originally advertised.
Dayton Parts of Harrisburg, Pa. recently came on board as an event sponsor for the 270 Clash, adding $1000 to the overall purse. Lanco officials have distributed the additional loot in the following manner: $500 will be added to the A-Main payout - from positions five through 24. The other $500 from Dayton Parts will be used to pay the drivers who do not qualify in the 270cc B-Main.
Below is a link to the complete payout structure for the Hyper Racing 270 Clash at the Clyde:
Hyper Racing, Dayton Parts, and Scott Ertter/ L5SI Tactical have teamed up to make the 270 Clash at the Clyde a very lucrative race...if 40 or more cars enter the event, the winner will receive $1,050 and the race will pay $140 just to take the green flag in the 30-lap main event.
Pit gates will open at 3:30 on Saturday, with grandstand gates swinging open one hour later. The pill draw for both 600cc and 270cc drivers will end at 6 p.m. At the same time, a mandatory driver's meeting will begin.
Warm-ups will follow the driver's meeting (approximately 6:15), and the first heat race goes green at 7:00.
There are no pre-entry deadlines to worry about; race teams in both divisions simply need to show up on Saturday, pay a $50 car entry fee and $30 for a pit pass, then go racing.
For spectators, an adult general admission ticket will cost $10. Tickets for Senior Citizens and Students are priced at $6.00, while tickets for youth between the ages of six and twelve will cost $2.00. Children under the age of six are free, and parking is always free at the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway.
The opener for Kioti Tractors PA 600 Speedweek not only offers the largest winner's share of the entire series, but is also important because the 600cc pilots want to get off to a strong start in their quest for the overall Speedweek Championship, which is worth $1,000 to the driver who scores the most points in the five race gauntlet of speed and competition.
The PA 600 Speedweek point fund is jointly sponsored by American Racer Tires and Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic (HTMA).
The race at Clyde Martin is also one of only two on this year's 600 Speedweek Tour that will be run with wings. The other winged event will be held at the Greenwood Valley Action Track, just north of Bloomsburg, Pa. on Sunday, July 7.
The other three Speedweek programs - at Kutztown's JeffreyHogueRealtor.com Action Track USA on July 10, at Linda's Speedway on July 12, and at Hamlin Speedway on July 13 - will be wingless races for the 600's. This is the first time in the seven year history of PA 600 Speedweek that non-wing events have been a part of the series.
The opener at Clyde Martin carries a rain date of Sunday, July 7. If the rain date is needed, then Speedweek race #2, at the Greenwood Valley Action Track, will be run on Monday, July 8.
Past champions of PA 600 Speedweek include A.J. Bast (2007); Brent Marks (2008); Heath Hehnly & Shane Lewis (tied for title in 2009); Hehnly (2010); Jeff Hartman (2011); and Lewis won last season's overall point title.
Speedweek winners at Clyde Martin include Mike Dicely (2007); Robbie Kendall (2008); Mike Rutherford (2009); the race was stopped prior to the A-Main in 2010; and Shane Lewis was the 2011 winner. Last season's tour began with two races at the Clyde; Brock Zearfoss and Ryan Greth were victorious in those events.
The victories by Dicely, Kendall, and Greth paid $10,000-to-win.
Billy Logeman and Rutherford collected the 270 Clash at the Clyde wins in 2011 and 2012.
The best of the best will be in Newmanstown this Saturday...with big bucks on the line in both divisions and 600 Speedweek points to be gained, you've just gotta come out and LIVE the excitement that is Lanco!
